Old gas is bad for your Cub Cadet zero turn rider. Over time, unused gas left in your machine for more than a month can go stale and gum up the carburetor. This invites rust in the fuel system which is why removing old gas is imperative to keeping your Cub Cadet running smoothly and efficiently.
Before performing any maintenance on your machine, refer to your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner’s manual to get instructions specific to your model, including information about the recommended fuel type.
To change the gas on your Cub Cadet zero turn rider, begin by parking your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting. Engage the parking brake.
Unscrew the gas cap. Using the Arnold Siphon Pump, place the top hose into the gas tank on the engine and the bottom hose into a container.
Prime the pump by pumping the handle three or four times. Once the liquid begins to flow, it will flow without further pumping. Remove the Arnold Siphon Pump and add new gas.
Replace the gas cap and reconnect the spark plug ignition wire. Lastly, dispose of the old gas properly.
Changing the gas in your mower will maximize its lifespan and help it run more smoothly and efficiently. So, it goes without saying that changing the gas in your mower is an essential part of regular maintenance.
