Changing the air filter on your Exmark is simple maintenance that will improve performance and extend the life of your mower. A properly functioning air filter will protect your machine from dirt and debris kicked up during mowing. When the air filter is working properly, it prevents dirt from entering the engine through the carburetor. Here’s how to change the air filter on your Exmark Radius E Series zero turn rider.
Before performing any maintenance on your machine, refer to your owner’s manual for maintenance instructions and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your lawn mower model our instructions may vary slightly.
Park your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting. Engage the parking brake.
First, lift the air filter cover. When you remove the air filter, pull back towards you and the filter will pop right out. If there is any type of debris inside the filter, clean that out. If there’s anything around the intake, make sure that gets cleaned out also.
Dispose of the old air filters. With these air filters, do not use compressed air to blow them out. You’ll rip the paper and suck dirt into the engine.
When installing the new air filter, make sure everything is clean. Push the filter in and then down to secure it in your machine. Inside the air filter housing there is a lock that pushes the air filter into the intake. Make sure the air filter is sealed in place and then close the air filter cover.
