Billy Goat has three different series or debris loaders with different engine options. The first one is the 1302 which has not been very popular because it uses 8-inch diameter tube. You need the larger displacement, the larger impeller, and larger engine to handle the bigger tubes and when you go to the 10-inch tube it gives you considerably more circumference inside the tube.
The problem with the 8 inch unit, in the fall, typically the leaves are always going to be damp and the 8 inch is more prone to plug because of the smaller diameter tube. So when you go to the next series up, it’s offered in a 14 and 18 horsepower engine. The 18 goes to a twin cylinder which is a great option because the twin cylinder will develop more torque. It does take a lot of power to pick up that debris, so it is really a great performing model.
All the tubes are 10 foot in length as well and feature all spring assisted hose carriers, which helps support some of the weight of the hose.
Billy Goat debris loaders have a lot of different options for mounting. It really is based on what you need. There is a swing away kit which mounts into your receiver, a straight receiver hitch, you can mount it off the of a stake pocket or you can just bolt it right to the trailer. So there’s a lot of different options based on how you’re configuring your loading box. There are even extensions to the tube if you need to get it up into a trailer.
All the Billy Goats use a double shredding system, so they have the steel impeller that is shredding but they also have what is called a piranha blade. The piranha blade mounts to the outside of the impeller and helps pulverize the debris quickly. It gives you about a 12 to 1 reduction in the material and it is very quick and a very efficient system with a double shredding system.
Moving up into the DL series, these debris loaders are available in 29 and 37 horsepower. These feature considerably larger impellers. On these units, the 10-inch hose goes to a 12-inch hose.
When you get into those big piles of heavy leaves the DL models are beasts and work to get right through them. An optional trailer is available for these machines, so again, depending on how you’re handling your loading you can either bolt the unit to a trailer, truck, or you can get the trailer assembly if you want to tow it behind and just feed right into if you have a box built on your truck.
Even with the large, heavy hose with the spring assist system, these larger units have a nice little carrier which makes it very easy to maneuver the hose for this size hose. To make quick work out of leaf removal the Billy Goat debris loaders are one of those tools once people have them they say “I wish I had it years ago” because it’ll pay for itself in no time. These units are labor savers.
