How To Change the Air Filter on a Cub Cadet ZT2

Your Cub Cadet ZT2 is likely the most frequently used item in the spring and summer, so proper maintenance is extremely important to maximizing efficiency.

Before performing any maintenance on your Cub Cadet ZT2, refer to your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your riding lawn mower model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner’s manual to get instructions specific to your model.

The Cub Cadet ZT2 has a Kawasaki FR 691 engine in it. Changing the air filter on this model it simple, this one does not need any tools to be changed.

Pull up on the air filter cover. There’s a wing nut, generally on the right hand side. Loosen that wing nut, just until it is loose and then pull it right off the air filter.

Remove the old air filter and discard it. We do not recommend using any type of compressed air to blow the air filter out, we just recommend replacing the filter. After you discard the old filter, replace it with the new Kawasaki air filter.

If there is any debris inside the housing of your Cub Cadet ZT2, we do recommend cleaning that out before you install the new air filter.

Once the new air filter has been installed, twist the band clamp back onto the new air filter. You do not have to twist too tight, you don’t have to crank it down, just make sure it’s good and snug. Once that is all set, close the air filter cover and you’re good to go.

Use our illustrated parts diagrams to locate any replacement parts you may need for maintenance for your Cub Cadet ZT2 zero turn rider.
