The SSV is Ventrac’s new sidewalk machine. Ventrac spent a long time building the tractor unit which has long been known for exceptional versatility and they brought that into a compact sidewalk machine. In the last few years, we’re starting to see a lot of these compact machines for sidewalk snow removal but Ventrac has kept the small chassis but really made it a lot heavier duty.
Ventrac SSV still has a narrow 34 inch width compact wheel base but they’ve upped the horsepower to an 18 horsepower twin cylinder Kawasaki engine and you can get it with an optional PTO. The PTO gives you the ability to run hydraulic front implements.
You’re going to use less salt with the Ventrac SSV and it has a ton of power for a small machine, and a ton of hydraulic power as well. For those deep snows you can very easily switch over to a snow blower attachment. Another great snow attachment is the snow blade. The snow blade is great for light snow, and you get the quickest ground speed with the snow blade. Ventrac offers a 42-inch blade for those narrower sidewalks and they also offer a 54-inch.
The Ventrac SSV gives you exceptional versatility and is designed for the user to stand on the back. This machine gives you excellent visibility. The parking brake is a nice feature. Engage the parking brake so when you go to jump off the machine you can jump off and the machine will still stay running but for operation you just release the parking brake and it drives like a skid steer with the two levers for turning and maneuverability.
The other nice thing Ventrac did is allow you to run the machine one-handed and gives you the versatility to use the joystick for angling and engaging your attachments. The SSV is much more productive with the single hand operation. Lights come standard with the machine, as well as the PTO switch to engage whatever attachments you’re interested in using. The Ventrac also has a nice, heavy throttle system so when you’re out in the elements you’re not going to have problems with this freezing up. This is just an excellent, solid unit with exceptional versatility for a sidewalk machine.
