Exmark 96-inch Lazer commercial mowers come in a diesel and gas model. The diesel mower is powered by a Yanmar 37 horsepower engine and will mow over 9 acres an hour at roughly 12 miles an hour. The gas model is powered by a 980 Kohler gas engine and mows over 8 acres an hour at about 10 ½ miles an hour. Based on the Lazer chassis that we all know, it is a little bit lower to the ground than the diesel, and both have 12 gallons of fuel.
These mowers will save you time and money. Both mowers have a Red Tech system. Many of you are familiar with the Red Technology system that was put out a few years ago but what many people don’t know is you can dive into statistics with the Red Tech system.
Some get intimidated by the Red system because it is computer based and this a very carbureted world but at the end of the day there is so much more to it, and you can do math and know what you’re spending each time you cut that property, so it helps you kind of gauge how to bid or charge for that job.
Not only is it a diagnostic system but it’ll kick back data for you on what you’re doing out in the field. Kind of like an odometer in your vehicle, you have a record trip setting that will tell you how the PTO is ran, how much fuel you’ve used, and everything else under the sun.
These mowers have been around a couple years now. The gas was introduced last year, this will be the diesel’s third season on the market and both have had great success. These mowers come set up with a finish baffle system. So many folks are concerned about the quality of cut with these mowers. These mowers cut great. These mowers are great for anybody that is looking for time and money savings and a great cut on large properties. If you have to mow somewhere 5 acres or larger these really shine and that’s where they come alive.
On both mowers there is no foot pedal to raise and lower the deck. Obviously having 96 inches of deck, that’s a lot to lift up and down. Both are powered by a deck lift. That’s a straight hydraulic so the motor has to be running on the diesel model to raise and lower the deck but on the gas model it’s an electric over hydraulic, and there’s an electric motor that runs the lift system so you can operate the raising and lowering of the deck with the engine off.
These mowers do articulate 15 and 20 degrees up and down so and have a safety switch if they get too high, the mower will kick the PTO off for everybody’s safety.
Many of you have an enclosed trailer and have concerns about getting larger mowers in your trailer. For most enclosed trailers, you can get these mowers in there with the wings up and get a grown man through the side of it, no problem. There is room between the mower and the wall and allows you to tie the mower down on all 4 corners for safe hauling.
For those of you that operate on an open trailer there are also safety pins in the hinge, and you’ll want to put those in when you’re going down the road as a safety factor so a wing doesn’t go into traffic.
These mowers look and feel just like a standard Lazer, and some of the best rides are on these two mowers.
