Ventrac 4500 Tractor Grease Points Service

Practice preventative maintenance and perform walk-around inspections on your Ventrac 4500 Tractor daily. Visually scan for issues, make checking grease point lubrication part of your routine. There are important lube points throughout your Ventrac that can cause failures requiring costly services and repairs if not properly greased.

A main cause of common service issues is the lack of grease point lubrication. Without the appropriate level of grease, metal-on-metal contact occurs and causes stress and damage to parts. Here’s how to properly grease all grease points of your Ventrac 4500 tractor.

Before performing any maintenance on your tractor, refer to your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner’s manual to get instructions specific to your model. There is also a frequent service guide underneath the hood of the tractor that you can quickly reference.

Tools needed:

  • grease gun with a minimum 13-inch hose
  • 5/32 Allen wrench
  • personal protective equipment

The 50-hour service interval includes 11 grease points on the tractor and the 4 grease points on the three-point hitch if you have it. Apply one pump of grease to each point.

The first point to grease on the Ventrac 4500 is the forward grease point on the steering cylinder. This is just behind the front left tire of the tractor.

Then grease your steering cylinder rear grease point, your lower linkage front grease point, and your lower linkage rear grease point.

The next points to grease are the two grease points on the front hitch arm. Next, grease the hitch arm lift cylinder. To easily access the rear grease point on the lift cylinder and the forward grease point on the drive shaft, remove the right-side engine cover on the tractor.

With the right-side engine cover removed, you have easier access to three more grease points – the front lift cylinder grease point, rear lift cylinder grease point, and front engine drive shaft grease point.

To access the forward grease point on the drive shaft, spin the drive shaft so the grease point faces to the right side of the Ventrac. To do this, grab the fan and spin it which will spin the drive shaft. When doing this be careful not to break the fan.

Feed the hose of your grease gun in between the auxiliary quick couplers and down underneath the radiator through the radiator bracket, and then all the way across to the grease fitting on the drive shaft.

Next is the rear grease point of the drive shaft. To gain access to this, remove the radiator screen as well as the canvas debris cover. You may need to rotate the drive shaft to get the rear grease fitting to face upward.

After greasing the rear grease fitting of the drive shaft, reinstall the canvas debris cover and radiator screen.

Grease the final grease point on the upper center pivot. If you have the optional three-point hitch you will have four additional grease points. You will have the two pivot points – the rear and the front of the three-point hitch cylinder. Apply one to two squirts of lubricant to both slides and then slide the seat forward and back a few times.
