How to Change the Air Filter on a Toro Zero Turn

Whether you’re changing the air filter, fuel filter, spark plug, oil or blades, regular maintenance on your Toro zero turn is imperative. Air filter maintenance may seem like a small task, but it’s very important for the health and performance of your machine. Here’s how to change the air filter on your Toro zero turn rider.

Before performing any maintenance on your Toro zero turn rider, refer to your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on the model of your zero turn, our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner’s manual to get instructions specific to your model.

Park your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting. Engage the parking brake.

What you’ll need: Replacement air filter

To change the air filter on a Toro zero turn, pull up on the air filter cover and clean any type of debris that might have stacked up in here. Take the air filter out, pull from the front of the air filter towards the back.

With the air filter removed, replace it with a new one. When putting the air filter back in, push the intake in first and then push down towards the front. On the inside of the cover, there is a little lip, or ridge, that the air filter has to sit in in order to hold tight against the air filter intake.

Put the air filter in first, push, and push down towards the front and it will snap right into place.

Close the cover, and you’re all set with that.
