When it comes to maintaining your lawn mower, you’ll want to be prepared. Maintaining the engine extends the life of the engine and retains the mower’s warranty coverage while saving you from costly repairs. If you prefer do-it-yourself maintenance, Briggs & Stratton provides a handy, inexpensive kit to make the job extra convenient.
The kit is for 625-675 Series engines, containing the air cleaner, Champion spark plug, a pack of Fuel Stabilizer Plus and an 18 oz bottle of SAE 30W oil.
Air cleaner
The air cleaner should be periodically checked, and may only need a simple shake to clean out packed debris. It’s important not to damage the paper element, as any holes or tears can allow dirt and debris into the engine. The conditions of the environment (variables like dirt and dust) will depend on how often the air cleaner should be replaced.
Spark plug
The spark plug should be changed every season of use. It’s a very simple to change and will ensure ease of start every time. The spark plug that comes with this kit is pre-gapped.

Oil
Changing the engine oil is a messy, yet necessary job. According to Briggs & Stratton, if you have a new mower, change the oil after the first five hours of use. After that, the engine oil should be changed at least once a season or after 25 hours of use.
It is recommended by our service team at Weingartz to check the oil level before each startup and check that the oil is clean.
Fuel stabilizer
One of the main services for preventative maintenance is fuel preservation. A good stabilizer like the one in this kit will help extend the gasoline storage life and prevent gum deposits in the carburetor. The reason it’s recommended to use a fuel treatment is because today’s gasoline only has a shelf life of about 30 days.
Perform all of these services, and your mower will continue to perform like new for years to come. “Briggs & Stratton Quantum™ Tune-Up Kit”
