How To Change the Fuel Filter on an Exmark Radius E Series

The job of your fuel filter is to prevent foreign objects such as dirt, debris and water, from entering the combustion chamber of your Exmark. The fuel filter strains the impurities from the fuel before it enters the carburetor. If the filter gets clogged or stops working properly, you will encounter issues with your mower. Here’s how to change the fuel filter on your Exmark Radius E Series zero turn.

Before performing any maintenance on your machine, refer to your owner’s manual for maintenance instructions and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your lawn mower model our instructions may vary slightly.

Park your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting. Engage the parking brake.

To carry out this task, you’ll need:

First, shut off the in-line fuel valve, just turn it a quarter turn. The side of the valve says off, so just turn it to off.

Use a pair of pliers to move both fan clamps off of the fuel filter. We recommend putting a rag underneath the filter to soak up any fuel filter and keep it from running all over your machine. Once the clamps are moved out of the way, give them a twist to break the fuel lines free.

Next, properly dispose of your fuel filter. When installing the new fuel filter, look on the side of the filter to see an arrow that says flow. The flow side should go towards the engine. Reinstall the new fuel filter in the fuel line and then reinstall the fan clamps around the fuel filter.

Turn the fuel valve back on. Make sure to remove any gas-soaked rags out of the machine and then start your mower.

Again, always be aware when working with gasoline, no open flame, no sparks and make sure the battery is disconnected and the key is out of the machine. Refer to your owner’s manual for any further safety operations.
