RedMax has had, for quite a few years, a split boom multi-tool system but the new Maxtreme, they made a couple nice changes. The coupler system is much more positive. Basically, loosen the big wing nut, push the button, and slide the attachment out. The attachment comes in and out easier and as the machine gets older it’s just going to be more durable with this positive locking system. When RedMax went to the new Maxtreme system, they added some new attachments as well.
The key new attachment is the reciprocator attachment. RedMax came out with the reciprocator about 20-25 years ago, but it’s always been a dedicated tool. If you don’t have a lot of work for it, it’s hard to justify the cost and you’ll just have another engine to maintain. Now you can buy this reciprocator and easily attach it to the Maxtreme system. The reciprocator features two blades and they reciprocate back and forth. The advantage with this is it doesn’t throw things like a conventional blade and there’s a lot of different applications.
You can use this reciprocator under water, and you can use it for edging. A lot of golf courses will have the reciprocator for edging around their sand bunkers and even just for trimming heavy weeds. Like we mentioned, it’s safer because it doesn’t throw things. It’s not spinning, it just moves back and forth. So, this is one great attachment that they took their proven reciprocator system and added to the Maxtreme.
Other attachments include an articulating hedge trimmer, cultivating tiller, leaf blower, and edger. The articulating hedge trimmer is a same bar that you use in a conventional hedge trimmer, just loosen the wing nut and you can articulate different positions depending on what you’re trimming. If you have those tall hedges or if you need to get up and do a flat top, this gives you a lot of flexibility. This is an exceptionally popular attachment for the Maxtreme system.
The cultivating tiller is nice when you’re out doing your flower beds and those small plots. It’s nice instead of having a separate power unit, you have one engine to do all the work.
The leaf blower attachment looks a little bit different than a regular leaf blower but basically it develops all the power in the fans and blows out the end.
The edger, another very popular attachment, is a commercial grade unit but we sell a fair amount of these to homeowners because they invest in a good commercial grade power head and they’re not paying for another edger, they’re just buying the edger attachment.
The pole saw is another great attachment. This is ideal for reaching hard-to-reach trees, branches, and other areas you need to trim. When you add this to the unit, you get about seven and a half feet of reach.
The new Maxtreme took a proven design, enhanced and improved it, and added some more versatility with the additional attachments.
