Old oil can cause problems for your lawn mower&#8217;s engine, making it hard to start. Here\u2019s how to properly change the oil on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124026\/Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mowers\">walk behind lawn mower<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before performing any maintenance on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124026\/Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mowers\">lawn mower<\/a>, refer to your owner\u2019s manual for maintenance instructions and safety information. It is possible to change the oil in a cold engine, but warm oil is better. Then loosen the oil cap, which also has the dipstick applied to it.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no drain plug on the bottom of the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124026\/Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mowers\">mower<\/a>, tip the <a href=\"https:\/\/powerequipment.honda.com\/lawn-mowers\">machine <\/a>on its side to get the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/searchPage.action?gallery=0&amp;sortBy=popularity%7Cdesc&amp;keyWordTxt=&amp;srchTyp=0&amp;keyWord=oil&amp;narrowKeyword=&amp;vpsid=&amp;attrFilterList=attr_Type%3A%22Oil+%26+Fuel+%22&amp;resultPage=12\">oil<\/a> out. Let the old oil run into your drain pan. When you tip the machine, make sure the air filter side is up. If not, you run the risk of getting <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/searchPage.action?gallery=0&amp;sortBy=popularity%7Cdesc&amp;keyWordTxt=&amp;srchTyp=0&amp;keyWord=oil&amp;narrowKeyword=&amp;vpsid=&amp;attrFilterList=attr_Type%3A%22Oil+%26+Fuel+%22&amp;resultPage=12\">oil <\/a>in the carburetor and wrecking the air filter.<\/p>\n<p>Once the old oil has stopped draining from the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124026\/Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mowers\">mower<\/a>, tip it back on its wheels. Use your rag to clean the dipstick of any old oil and debris. Pour the new oil into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cubcadet.com\/equipment\/cubcadet\">mower<\/a>. Refer to your owner\u2019s manual for the approved type of oil for your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124026\/Walk-Behind-Lawn-Mowers\">mower <\/a>and the proper amount it requires.<\/p>\n<p>Check the oil level with the dipstick. When checking the oil with the dipstick, place the dipstick into the oil and push it all the way down.
