So, it goes without saying that changing the oil in your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exmark.com\/\">mower<\/a> is an essential part of regular maintenance. Here\u2019s how to change the oil in your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">riding lawn mower<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before performing any maintenance on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">riding lawn mower<\/a>, refer to your owner\u2019s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">riding lawn mower<\/a> model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner\u2019s manual to get instructions specific to your model, including information about the recommended oil type.<\/p>\n<p>To carry out this task, you\u2019ll need these tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drain pan<\/li>\n<li>Siphon pump<\/li>\n<li>New oil (refer to owner\u2019s manual)<\/li>\n<li>Rag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To change the oil on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">riding lawn mower<\/a>, park the machine on a flat, level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool, remove the ignition key, and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting.<\/p>\n<p>Use your rag to clean the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cubcadet.com\/equipment\/cubcadet\">mower\u2019s<\/a> oil fill and drain area of debris. Remove the dip stick from the oil fill tube and use a siphon pump to remove old oil. Connect one hose to the intake nozzle and feed the other end into the tank you need to siphon from. Connect the second hose to the discharge nozzle and place the other end into a drain pan.<\/p>\n<p>Prime the pump by pumping the handle three to four times.\u00a0 Once the liquid begins to flow, it will continue to flow without you pumping. Remove the siphon pump when the oil stops flowing.<\/p>\n<p>To remove old oil using the drain plug on the machine, position your drain pan under the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">mower<\/a> to catch liquid. Snap the small end of the oil drain sleeve onto the oil sump and remove the drain plug. Drain the old oil into the drain plug. Replace the drain plug and remove the drain sleeve.<\/p>\n<p>If your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deere.com\/en\/index.html\">machine<\/a> has an oil filter, replace it with a new one. Use your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">lawn mower<\/a> oil to lubricate the gasket of the new filter and then install the filter.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve removed the old oil from your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/124027\/Riding-Lawn-Mowers\">lawn mower<\/a>, pour the new oil into the machine. Refer to your owner\u2019s manual for the approved type of oil for your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toro.com\/en\/\">mower<\/a> and the proper amount it requires. Replace the dip stick and wait several minutes before using the dip stick to check the oil level.<\/p>\n<p>Check the oil level with the dip stick. Depending on where it reads, you may need to add more oil. When checking the oil with the dip stick, place the dip stick into the oil and push it all the way down.
