Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/123987\/Generators\">generator <\/a>model our instructions may vary slightly.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bnmEushTW1w\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Before performing any repair or maintenance on a generator, follow these safety precautions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn fuel valve on top of the fuel cap to off \u2013 prevents any spilling, any leakage or fire as the machine spills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To carry out this task, you\u2019ll need these tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flathead screwdriver or Phillips head screwdriver<\/li>\n<li>Rag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To replace the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">air filter<\/a> in a <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/123987\/Generators\">generator<\/a>, you need to locate the air filter on your machine. On some <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/123987\/Generators\">generator <\/a>models, there is a panel on the side that can be removed with your screwdriver. On other <a href=\"https:\/\/powerequipment.honda.com\/generators\">models<\/a>, there is no panel covering the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">filter<\/a>. If your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/123987\/Generators\">generator <\/a>has a side panel, remove it with your screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p>You may encounter another Phillips or flathead screw in the front <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">air filter<\/a> cover. Use your screwdriver to remove the air filter cover. There are two different air filters \u2013 a pre-filter and the air filter. You can clean these <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">filters <\/a>off by simply dusting them off. You don\u2019t want to blow them off because you run the risk of putting a hole in the air filter cover and sucking dirt into the engine.<\/p>\n<p>After dusting off the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">filters<\/a>, simply replace them. Make sure the air filter housing is clean. Use your rag to wipe out any excess dirt that you find inside the housing.<\/p>\n<p>Reinstall or replace your <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">air filters<\/a> by placing them back in their original spot underneath the air filter cover. Reinstall the air filter cover and use your screwdriver to tighten the screw on the cover.<\/p>\n<p>If you removed the side panel to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/124055\/Category\/Filters\">air filter<\/a>, reinstall the panel. When you reinstall this panel, note that there are two notches on each side. They will slide right into the <a href=\"https:\/\/weingartz.com\/C\/123987\/Generators\">generator <\/a>and then you can lift up on the cover.
