If you want to increase the lifespan of your Cub Cadet Ultima zero turn rider<\/a>, it is very important that you change the oil in your machine to keep it in the best shape. Regular oil changes are essential to keeping your mower\u2019s engine in working condition and keeping your Cub Cadet<\/a> running smoothly and efficiently.<\/p>\n

Before performing any maintenance on your Ultima<\/a>, refer to your owner\u2019s manual for recommended maintenance and safety information. Maintenance instructions vary by model, so depending on your model our instructions may vary slightly. Check your owner\u2019s manual to get instructions specific to your model, including information about the recommended oil type.<\/p>\n

To change the oil on your Cub Cadet Ultima zero turn rider<\/a>, begin by parking your mower on a flat, level surface. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool. Remove the ignition key and disconnect the spark plug ignition wire to prevent accidental starting. Engage the parking brake.<\/p>\n

Place a piece of cardboard under your Cub <\/a>to catch oil drips and use an oil basin to catch the old oil when it is drained from the engine.<\/p>\n

Remove the dip stick and drain the oil. Use a \u00be-inch and a \u00bd-inch wrench to unthread the stopper plug from the oil outlet and allow the engine oil to drain completely. Once the oil has drained, secure the stopper plug to the oil outlet.<\/p>\n

Replace the old oil filter<\/a> with a new one. Use an oil filter wrench to unthread the oil filter<\/a> from the engine and use a rag to clean the area around the engine of any spilled oil.<\/p>\n

Replace the oil filter<\/a> and add a little oil to the seal of the new oil filter to help with the install. Use your hand to thread the new oil filter<\/a> onto the engine but do not overtighten. Use your oil filter wrench to snug the fit but do not overtighten.<\/p>\n

Add new oil to your Cub Cadet Ultima zero turn rider<\/a>. Use the oil recommended by the engine manufacturer and fill to the recommended levels.<\/p>\n

The last step is to replace the dip stick and check the engine oil levels. Then reconnect the spark plug wire and start your Cub Cadet Ultima zero turn rider<\/a>.<\/p>\n
