Fuel. Let\u2019s talk about it.<\/p>\n
We know all the different power equipment requires fuel.\u00a0We get a lot of questions asked surrounding fuel. For example \u2013 do we need rec fuel, you know, ethanol free fuel? We don’t want to say you need rec fuel. Your\u00a0manufacturers will all recommend 10% ethanol or less. Wreck fuel is ethanol free so naturally that is going to be the best, but it is\u00a0very expensive and a lot of times you have to go\u00a0out of your way to find it.<\/p>\n
The key with fuel\u00a0is 10% ethanol or less. Typically, if you go to a mid-grade fuel, you go from 87 to 89\u00a0octane. There is less ethanol in the mid-grade fuel.<\/p>\n
We recommend you go to a premium fuel. It’s not much more money to go to 93 octane.\u00a0You don’t have to worry\u00a0about issues as your fuel degrades. Premium fuel holds\u00a0that octane to keep it above that 89, 90.<\/p>\n
We also have a lot of people who go into\u00a0the pre-mix fuel. One advantage of the pre-mix fuel\u00a0for your two cycle products, you don’t use a lot of\u00a0fuel and a lot of times it sits long time between\u00a0uses.<\/p>\n
Manufacturers have all come\u00a0out with ethanol free fuel and it has fuel stabilizers<\/a> added to it which\u00a0would give you up to a two-year shelf life. If you’re not using your equipment a lot this\u00a0is a great way to go at any time, but it is more costly than going to\u00a0your fuel station, mixing up your own fuel.<\/p>\n All your manufacturers will have 93 octane, it’s kind of standard.\u00a0RedMax has got a 95 octane. Any one of those is\u00a0plenty high octane. Also, companies like VP Fuel have four-cycle in pre-packaged containers.\u00a0If you are not using your power equipment a lot, these are a great way to go.<\/p>\n Another great option we\u00a0recommend, whenever you get fuel, add some\u00a0type of fuel stabilizer<\/a>. A lot of problems we see\u00a0is people with fuel that\u2019s been sitting for a few months\u00a0so just add a little bit of stabilizer <\/a>to your fuel, it doesn’t take a lot.<\/p>\n There are different kinds of stabilizers <\/a>out there for you to choose from. Exmark mower manufacturer has a great\u00a0additive. Sea Foam<\/a> is a fuel treatment\u00a0system, you’ll see this in a lot of auto parts stores.\u00a0It doesn’t take a lot to use, about a gallon\u00a0or two gallons of fuel when you’re picking it up\u00a0but that little bit will help give you a\u00a0longer shelf life. You’ll get up to 12 months storage just by adding stabilizers<\/a>.<\/p>\n We highly recommend premium fuel, a little\u00a0bit of stabilizer <\/a>and have a\u00a0gas can because a good, clean gas\u00a0can is extremely important.<\/p>\n
